Australian Poetry

The multifaceted and ever-changing Australian experience is explored in this exciting presentation of performance poetry. Students participate in an interactive workshop with three actors to discover ideas for writing their own poetry.  We investigate such forms as the ballad, free and comic verse, spoken word and song, plus a broad range of poetic devices.

By making Australian poetry fun and accessible, we introduce students to some of Australia’s most prolific poets, from the early 20th Century right through to contemporary first nations poets.

All performances are followed by a Q&A with the actors. Company members have broad knowledge of poetry and storytelling, and can lead discussions on style and content.
