Set against the Salem witch trials of 1692, The Crucible recreates the terrifying reality of a village in Massachusetts where a group of adolescent girls, facing accusations of witchcraft, escape retribution by deflecting blame onto fellow villagers.
As the narrative unfolds, and the hysteria increases, we follow John Proctor’s arduous battle against the rigid Puritan authorities and individuals bent on personal revenge. The play delves deep into the complex dynamics of power, morality, truth and vengeance.
